The simplest starter, pretty canapé or snack for the kids that you can put together in seconds.
Smoked trout is often forgotten about and it’d cheaper and milder in flavour than salmon but with bags of the benefits.
It’s packed with a cocktail of greatness for wintry immune systems and bug beating, and lots of kids have gobbled these up.
- 300g Smoked Trout (or salmon)
- 2 tbsp horseradish (check label for added sugar and nasties)
- Handful of baby spinach leaves
- Lemon wedges for squeezing over
Slice the trout in 2 inch by 5/6 inch pieces, going with the natural width where you can. Place one or two spinach leaves on top.
Smear a streak of horseradish down the middle of the spinach and roll up into a little pink cigar.
Lay on a plate or tray and squeeze lemon juice and grind black pepper on top.
